I wanted to name this one "the workout to make you feel less crap" but to make it sound more professional I settled on "full body mobility workout". It's for days when you feel stiff as a board or when you simply want an exercise snack that won't leave you drenched in sweat, especially during your lunch break when you'd rather not return to your desk looking like you just ran a marathon.
Now, I'm not saying this workout will transform your life. It won't make you a millionaire overnight, and it definitely won't summon a unicorn to carry you away to a magical land where burpees don't exist. But what it will do is help you keep your limbs from feeling like they've been through a blender on those particularly crappy days.
I am a big believer in trying to do a "little bit" of something every day when possible. This doesn't have to be a BIG SESSION that always progresses you towards some HUGE GOAL (I feel like the fitness industry always has to make a bigger deal of goals than it needs to). A walk, a short workout or just trying to stand more during the day can sometimes be all that's needed to keep turning the dial forward to where you want to be in the future or to simply take a little better care of yourself day to day.
If you can get SOMETHING done on the days where you feel like crap it makes any fitness based habit far easier to solidify over time.
So my best advice? On a day where you'd rather drag yourself naked over a field of thistles than move your body try doing something for 5 minutes and see if you start to feel a little better. Annoyingly, because exercises is so brilliant for us, about 99% of the time will make you feel somewhat better (or at least not worse). Then it's a case of finding the lowest hanging fruit of exercise that you can fit into your schedule (maybe it's this 15 minute session- HOW CONVENIENT)
So, lace up your trainers, or don't; I won't judge if you're doing this in your fuzzy slippers I'm doing it in some spotty socks. Join me in some weird socks.
